Why It’s Important to Stay Current With Your Check-Up Appointments

Cosmetic Dentistry: Why it’s important to stay current with check-up appointments
If you’ve had any type of cosmetic dentistry done, it’s still important to keep up with your oral health and preventive visits. Regular exams, cleanings, and x-rays are all essential to making sure your cosmetic work maintains it’s integrity and luster.
·         Even if you’ve had a restoration (such as a crown or bridge) on every tooth in your mouth, it’s still important to visit your dentist for check-up appointments.
·         X-rays allow us to see recurrent decay underneath restorations such as crowns, veneers, and bridges. The last thing someone wants is a beautifully restored tooth that gets decay underneath it!
·         A clinical exam allows Dr. Corson to evaluate the integrity of each restoration in your mouth. Often times, preventive treatments such as fluoride varnishes can easily be done at the time of your visit to help preserve and protect any cosmetic dentistry that has been done in the past.
·         Stain can form on cosmetic dentistry, too! Just like the enamel on your teeth, cosmetic work can stain from coffee, tea, red wine, and darker foods too. By keeping up with your preventive cleanings and exams regularly, stain can be prevented and removed.
